De Groene Vlieg (the Green Fly) is an independent company in the Netherlands, established in 1980, with now over 60 employees.
The company concentrates on pest control in open field agriculture, horticulture and other cultures by applying biological agents (sterile insects, parasitoids,
predators) and by soil sampling and pest monitoring to advise individual growers. It is aimed to apply the most environment friendly methods and to restrict use of materials.
The market includes mainly growers in the Netherlands and adjoining regions and is independent of farm policy (conventional or biological). All services are offered
personally with attention for individual wishes of the clients.
Main activities
The main activities of de Groene Vlieg are:
- sterile insect technique against onion flies (Delia antiqua)
- supervised control of carrot flies (Psila rosae)

supervised control of click beetles (Agriotis spp.), to prevent wireworm damage in the following years
- soil sampling for different kinds of nematodes and Sclerotium cepivorum
- research on the staphilinid beetle Aleochara bilineata as control agent against onion flies
